Anisodontea capensis ‘African Princess’

The best of its kind this evergreen shrub hardly ever stops flowering although I trim it back a third or more in early winter to promote lots of new growth the following season. As it flowers on new wood nothing is lost. Growing to 150 cm tall by 100cm wide it carries large, for the genus, Hibiscus-like flowers, dark fuchsia pink with deeper veining, from spring until winter. It grows in the dry garden here in full sun near lime green Euphorbias and magenta Gladiolus.
