Viburnum plicatum ‘Pink Beauty’
I first saw this thriving in the late Stuart Rattle’s garden at Musk Farm. The flowers of this beautiful form turn pink as they age. Viburnum plicatum is native to China, Japan and Taiwan. Easy to grow in well-nurtured soil if given some protection from the hottest winds, ‘Pink Beauty’ will eventually make a large shrub 3 metres tall by nearly as much across, although with judicious pruning it can be kept much smaller. It produces its flat hydrangea like flowers on horizontal branches during spring and early summer. Deciduous.
