Sweetpea ‘Noel Sutton’ (Lathyrus odoratus)

Introduced by Suttons in 1968, this is one of the best blues which has stood the test of time. Recipient of the RHS’s Award of Garden Merit, 1994. 200cm.

When to sow: The end of February until AugustWhere to sow: Direct sow in the garden, or in small potsDepth to sow: 8 to 12mmAspect:  Full sun, or as sunny a spot as possibleSoil:  Prepared, well drained, fertilised soilSpacing: 15-20cm between plants
  Directions: If seed is planted at monthly intervals, flowers can be had from late winter until Christmas. A single planting will last two or three months as long as spent flowers are removed. Traditionally sweet peas are planted on St. Patrick’s Day, the 17th of March, but any time from the end of February until August is fine.
