Looking for all the world like an amethyst flowered Agapanthus ‘John May’s Special’ is the tallest and largest flowered of all the Tulbaghias. In bloom from spring until carries its Agapanthus like heads of amethyst pink flowers on 80cm tall stems. The 30cm by 50cm foliage clumps are evergreen. It has an exceptionally long flowering period and is happy in full sun and light shade. Drought tolerant when once established. When all modern plant breeders are producing dwarfer and dwarfer plants for the flowering pot trade it’s a relief to have a plant that makes such a show.
