This captivating Clematis has very dark purple flowers which are almost black when they first open. As the flowers age they turn reddish purple. The 7-12cm flowers are freely produced on a 240-300cm vine. As ‘Romantika’ flowers on the current year’s growth, cut down to 15-30cm during winter. ‘Romantika’ makes a great plant to cover a fence, an arbour or trellis or clamber through trees and climbing roses.
‘Romantika’ was raised by the Estonian gardener Uno Kivistik and first released to the gardening public in 1983.
