This superb Clematis was raised by the Polish Jesuit monk, Brother Stefan Franczac who raised so many beautiful Clematis hybrids. ‘Blue Angel’ has masses of small to medium (5-7cm) pale mauve-blue flowers, with a paler bar, and ruffled edges to the petals. During the evening light the flowers have a pink cast. The filaments are creamy white and the anthers are yellow. The vine will grow 3-4 metres. Flowers are produced from late spring until well into autumn. This variety has an Award of Garden Merit. This award is only given to outstanding plants by the Royal Horticultural Society.
