Startling shiny bronze new leaves, like elongated holly, make a dramatic entrance in spring. They later turn deep green. The flowers, hovering like white and lemon moths, are held many to each thin wiry stem. It grows wild in Sichuan province China. The handsome, evergreen, divided foliage is handsome for most of the year but is best cut to the ground during mid-winter as the spring flowers and new foliage make a lovely combination. Epimediums are woodland plants and most need a moisture retentive soil in a light to medium shaded spot. Height of foliage clumps 30cm width 40cm. 75mm pot.
