Sweetpea ‘Blue Shift’ (Lathyrus odoratus)
This hybrid between Lathyrus odoratus and the recently discovered Turkish species Lathyrus belinensis has extraordinary flowers which change colour from maroon- violet to mauve blue with hints of aquamarine. 200cm.

When to sow: The end of February until August.
Where to sow: Direct sow in the garden, or in small pots.
Depth to sow: 8 to 12mm
Aspect: Full sun, or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilized soil.
Spacing: 15-20cm between plants
Directions: Traditionally, in the southern hemisphere, sweet peas are planted on St. Patrick’s Day, the 17th of March, but any time from the end of February until August is fine. 200cm. If seed is planted at monthly intervals, flowers can be had from late winter until Christmas, but a single planting will last two or three months as long as spent flowers are removed.
