Fairy’s Thimbles populates the mountains of Europe from the Pyrenees in the west to the Carpathians in the east. Farrar describes it in his book The English Rock Garden thus “,,,…all the mountain shingles from July onwards blush blue with the countless myriads of dangling bells. Nor do our gardens blush any more scantily; and C. cochlearifolia again and again earns sighs of gratitude as it fills the stray corners, and the niches by the steps, and the pathside itself with a riot of dainty colour and quivering fairy-bells-the most indestructible and amiable of hearty rampers.”
Happy in any sunny or lightly shaded spot which doesn’t parch during dry periods. 12cm tall by 15cm across to start with but will spread more.
