Whilst native to central Queensland and northern NSW the Queensland Bottle Tree is frost hardy when once established. One of the wonders of mother nature, fine specimens can be found growing in the centre of Bacchus Marsh, an inland town west of Melbourne and in the Vale Hill House garden in Ullina in the central goldfields area of Victoria. Whilst it can grow quite large in the wild it is a more modest in size in Southern Australian gardens. 3 or 4 metres tall by a few metres across is the most likely height at least for the first fifty years. Whilst the tree is frost hardy to minus 4 or 5 centigrade when established, young plants are best protected from frost.
