Limonium gmelinii ‘Dazzle Rocks’
Whilst Siberian Statice does grow wild in Siberia it has a wide distribution from eastern Europe through Russia, Türkiye, Iran, Central Asia and into western China.
The wild form of Limonium gmelinii has been grown in the Lambley gardens for a decade or more and though beautiful in its own way the weight of its flower heads is too heavy for its stems and all too often the flowers lie prostrate on the ground. We overcome this by growing it through other plants.
‘Dazzle Rocks’ on the other hand holds its clouds of small lilac flowers on strong stiff vertical stems. Enduring very tough sites in nature this statice is happy in any sunny spot in the garden and is quite drought tolerant when once established.
