We bought this thrilling little plant from Ken and Leslie Gillander’s Woodbank Nursery, which for many years sent rare and exquisite plants from Tasmania all over Australia. ‘Starker’s Pink’ looks for all the world like a miniature, amethyst flowered form of the common Algerian Iris unguicularis although unlike the latter the flowers are held well above its narrow strap like leaves. This little Iris gives so much reward for so little effort. It thrives in almost any position in the garden except dense shade. The fragrant flowers, produced in succession from May until September, last well in water if they are picked in pencil just before they unfurl. 30cm x 30cm.
