To our mind the most beautiful of the Philadelphus, this will make a height of 1.2m and a spread of 1m after 5-8 years. A vigorous deciduous shrub with arching branches clothed in slender, silver-backed green leaves and carrying pendent, highly-scented white flowers from early summer. Plant this deciduous shrub near an entrance or pathway, so you can get a whiff of the perfumed blooms each time you pass. It makes a fine specimen feature plant for the shrub border, or the edge of a lightly shaded woodland.
