Hedging Privet

Forming a solid wall of foliage when hedged, this privet is used exclusively in parts of the US instead of fencing. We have used it extensively here at Lambley for its fast growth and drought resistance. It may be partially deciduous when very young, but evergreen as a mature hedge. Here at Lambley we usually apply one major prune once a year and up to three minor prunes at other times depending on the rates of growth.

In his excellent book Paul Bangay's Guide to Plants, Paul Bangay describes using this at both his country properties after discovering it in the US Hamptons and writes, "It feels to me more like a country-style hedge and is great where large areas of hedging are necessary". Regularly hedged plants do not flower so no allergy problems are associated with this plant when used in this manner.

ONLY FOR VICTORIA. 4m x 2m Fast growing and very tough.
