One of the best shrubs for “...its dazzling autumn colour” writes G.S. Thomas in his seminal book “Ornamental Shrubs, Climbers and Bamboos”. ‘Flame’ has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society. It makes a deciduous shrub or small tree growing 4metres tall by as much across. The blue-green leaves turn orange and red during late autumn. The flower panicles are pinkish purple.
