Sweet Corn, Super Sweet ‘Polaris’ F1 (Zea mays)

Sweet Corn, Super Sweet ‘Polaris’ F1 (Zea mays)

Polaris cobs grow to 20cm long and are sweet and juicy. The plant can make 180-200cm tall and provides good disease resistance to ensure a bumper crop. A terrific 'honey and cream' variety to use instead of Samurai.

Please note: Polaris is provided as an excellent alternative to Samurai.

When to sow: Early November - early January
Where to sow: Direct
Depth to sow: 2cm
Aspect:  Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil:  Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add   lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants: 25cm; Between rows: 60cm

Directions:  Super sweet corn must be planted away from other varieties of corn or they will develop tough starchy kernels. I plant 2 seeds per station 25cm apart in rows 60cm apart in blocks of 4 rows to ensure full cobs. I plant four crops at fortnightly or so intervals from early November until early January.
