At the end of the Millennial Drought, our then staff member Marcus Ryan travelled to Europe on a Churchill Fellowship and took the opportunity to select the best plants he encountered for import through Australian Quarantine. This Salvia is one of the plants Lambley imported from that trip - it is a superb new salvia with dark purple-red flowers displayed on long stems above the foliage. Raised at Dysons Salvia Nursery in Kent, ‘Silas Dyson’ is one of the best of the very dark velvet red flowered Salvias available. Sun loving and drought tolerant, making a hardy shrub of 80 cm x 80 cm.
