Radicchio Tall Treviso ‘Fiero’ F1
Fiero is the variety sold in better class green grocers as red witlof. It is much easier to grow than white witlof and can be planted from late winter until early autumn for cropping just about all the year round. Beautiful deep maroon white veined heads.
When to sow: Late winter to autumn
Where to sow: Seed trays
Depth to sow: 5mm
Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants: 30cm; Between rows: 40cm
Directions: As the seed is fine I plant a dozen or so seeds in a seed tray every three or four weeks. I space the seed out in the tray giving each a space of 1cm square and transplant the seedlings into their final position four or five weeks later.
