Eggplant ‘Fantastic’ F1 (Solanum melongena)

Fantastic is a new, large round eggplant which can be grown successfully in the open garden in cooler parts of the country. I plant 2 seeds in a 7.5cm pots on bottom heat during early to mid-September thinning to one plant after germination. The plants are put out into the garden in mid-November. Space 50cm apart and 90cm between rows.

When to sow: Early September indoors; plant out mid-  November
Where to sow: in a 7.5cm pot
Depth to sow: 1/2 cm
Aspect:  Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil:  Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants 50cm Between rows 90cm

Directions: Plant 2 seeds in a 7.5cm pot on bottom heat during early to mid-September thinning to one plant after germination. Put the plants out into the garden in mid-November.
