Corydalis ‘Porcelain Blue’
I was one of the first Australians to see a blue Corydalis when I visited the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens 40 years ago. I was fortunate enough to be allowed into the locked area and was able to browse through an extraordinary collection of the rarest of the rare alpine plants. Since then blue corydalis have become much more readily available but remain relatively rare in Australian nurseries.
The exquisite flowers of 'Porcelain Blue' are carried above evergreen bronze foliage like a shoal of aqua-blue sea horses and are in bloom throughout spring, with a second flush during late summer and autumn. Happy in any relatively moist well drained spot in light to medium shade it also makes a good pot plant. 30cm tall by 30cm across.
