Cornflower ‘Florists Blue Boy’ (Centaurea cyanus)

Florists Blue Boy’ is a commercial cut flower strain of this popular, dreamy blue annual. Plant seed in a sunny spot in the open garden from late summer until late winter for a good spring or early summer display. Height 80cm. Space 20cm by 20cm.

 

When to sow: Late summer to late winter
Where to sow: Direct sow
Depth to sow: 3 to 5mm
Aspect:  Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil:  Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add   lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants: 30 to 40cm Between rows 60cm 

 

Directions:  An easily grown annual best planted by thinly sprinkling the seed in the open garden during late summer and autumn or plant a drill and thin seedlings to 30cm apart.
