Buddleja salvifolia
Sage Leaved Butterfly Bush
This could well be called Chanel Fragrance Buddleja as the scent of the flowers is redolent of the famous perfume. A native of southern Africa, Buddleja salvifolia produces large panicles of soft amethyst-mauve flowers as early as July from a large evergreen shrub or small tree of up to 5 metres tall by 3 metres wide. It can be kept smaller by judicious pruning after flowering but it is still best grown in larger gardens.
