Brussels Sprouts 'Churchill' F1
Early cropping Sprouts with large flavoursome sprouts are ready to pick from autumn through to mid-winter. A vigorous and easily grown variety. Seed must be sown in November.
When to sow: Mid October-November
Where to sow: Seed trays, pots or outside seed beds.
Depth to sow: 5mm Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants 40-60cm Between rows 80-90cm
Directions: Mid October to early November is the best and really the only time to plant Brussels Sprouts seeds either in seed trays, pots or outside seed beds. Any later planting is more than likely to end in disappointment. In windy areas staking may be necessary. When harvesting break off the leaf below the sprout and snap off the sprout. Plant seed no later than November and transplant to permanent position by early January at the latest.
