New Baby Broccoli

Excellent baby broccoli for year round cropping. Centre head must be cut as soon as it appears otherwise production of side shoots is inhibited. Sow from early August until April. Harvest begins 58 days from transplant.

 

When to sow: Late winter/early spring and late summer/early autumn.

Where to sow: For early planting use trays in a warm indoor position or in drills in a prepared bed for later sowings (see below)

Depth to sow: 5mm

Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.

Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.

Spacing: Between plants 35 to 40cm Between rows 60cm

 

Directions: Broccoli can be sown 3 different ways. 1) In seed trays or individual 5cm pots 2) Sow seed 5mm deep drill in outside seed beds and then transplant six weeks later into final position 3) Direct sow 3 seeds into final position and thin to one seedling
