Astrantia maxima ‘Snow Star’

Called Hattie’s Pincushion as the flowers “look like a mass of pins stuck into a central cushion. Surrounding the cushion is a ring of pointed papery bracts.” These white green tipped, subtle, exquisite flowers are held well above dense clumps of palmate leaves. ‘Snow Star’ blooms during late spring and early summer. If cut back hard after the first flush a second blooming will take place during late summer and early autumn. Astrantias are best grown in fertile soil in a lightly shaded spot which isn’t allowed to parch during dry weather. Height 80cm width 40cm.
