‘Piel de Sapo’ melons have very sweet juicy aromatic pale green to white flesh. This melon is widely grown in Spain. ‘Piel de Sapo’ translates as “skin of the toad’ which poetically describes the thick mottled green skin.
Lilly has an unbelievable sweet and spicy taste. This is the first Crenshaw melon that can be grown successfully in cooler southern parts of Australia. When ripe the skin is pale yellow and the flesh is light orange. Harvest at forced slip.
Diplomat is an excellent flavoured Galia melon with sweet aromatic green flesh. Galia melons are much more juicy and flavoursome than honeydews. Galia melons are ripe when the skin becomes yellowish and the fruit gives off an aromatic fragrance. Cut from the vine.
‘Sweet Delight is a delicious honeydew melon with juicy, full flavoured flesh if picked ripe. As it is quick to ripen it can be grown in cooler areas of Australia where the later ripening heirloom strains are problematic.
‘Summer Flavour’ was rated best for flavour amongst large red watermelons in a 2012 trial in the USA. Although a large variety it will ripen its fruit in all but the very coldest mountain areas of Australia. This large seeded watermelon has firm, crisp, juicy red flesh.
A beautiful looking and productive tiger striped variety weighing 2-3 kg with sweet, firm, crisp, red flesh. Flavour is out of this world, much better than the seedless types. ‘Tigrinho’ will ripen in cooler as well as warmer areas of Australia.
