Radish ‘Shunkyo’ Semi-Long Traditional Chinese
Traditional Chinese Radish
Makes 10-12cm long red roots with a crisp white flesh. The flavour is both hot and sweet. A favourite of northern Chinese cuisine and can be roasted with soya sauce and sesame seed. Slow to bolt they can be sown year round.
When to sow: Spring to autumn
Where to sow: Direct sow in 5 to8cm wide bands
Depth to sow: 1cm
Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: Between plants: Thin to 4 or Between rows: 40cm
Directions: Plant small quantities regularly so as to harvest the year round.
