Phlomis platystegia
A rare and beautiful Phlomis believed to be from the region of the Judean mountains in Israel. Visitors frequently remark upon its unusual leaf form and early flowering quality. Handsome evergreen foliage, hairy silver beneath and grey above with whorls of quite deep yellow claw-like flowers which are produced over a long period from late winter into early summer. It needs a well drained spot in full sun and needs just a little supplementary irrigation when being established and then none at all in most regions once established. Frost and drought hardy though the early flowers may be susceptible to frost damage in exposed positions. 120cm x 120 cm.
