Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Longin’

Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Longin’

Syn. Salvia yangii
Tall Russian Sage

This wonderful form of Russian Sage has been growing happily in the same spot in our garden for nearly 30years. Every year without fail it produces 100cm tall, stiff grey stems clothed with greyish leaves and topped by spires of lavender blue flowers from mid-summer until well into autumn.  Whilst good as a stand alone plant it is most effective when planted in drifts. Perovskia do best when planted quite a bit deeper than the level of the soil in its pot, around 4-5cm deeper would suit. Perovskia, coming as it does from Afghanistan, is drought tolerant when once established and enjoys a full sun position. 100-120cm tall by 50cm wide.
