Kohlrabi 'Azur Star' Organic
This is one of the best if not the best performing open pollinated purple kohlrabi. Azur Star produces round purple skinned white fleshed bulbs with excellent flavour. Slow to bolt the bulbs are best eaten at 5 to 8cm size. Sow January, February and March in warm areas and from September in cooler hills country.
When to sow: August, September and October and from February to April.
Where to sow: Sow in a drill in a prepared garden bed or in trays or pots.
Depth to sow: 1/2cm
Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.
Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.
Spacing: 5-6cm apart in rows 40cm apart
Directions: Kohlrabi doesn’t enjoy the torrid heat of mid-summer so is best planted to avoid these times.
