Black Sweet William 'Nigricans'

This is an ancient variety of sweet william dating to at least the early part of the 19th century and saved from oblivion by a keen eyed English west country gardener. 'Nigricans' has dark almost black leaves, a black stem and heads of really dark red flowers. This biennual is best sown during late summer and autumn for flowering the following year in summer.
