Asian Greens, Bok Choi ‘Black Summer’ F1 (Brassica rapa)

Asian Greens, Bok Choi ‘Black Summer’ F1 (Brassica rapa)

The best Bok Choi of the half a dozen varieties I’ve planted. It has dark green leaves on light green stalks. and makes a perfect vase shape even when small. Slow to bolt. I plant from September through until February.

When to sow: September to February

Where to sow: Direct into prepared garden bed

Depth to sow: 5mm Aspect: Full sun or as sunny a spot as possible.

Soil: Prepared, well drained, fertilised soil. Add lime if soil is too acid.

Spacing: Between plants 5cm, thin to 20cm Between rows 30 to 40cm

Directions: Bok Choi is best sown in a drill into prepared beds in the garden. As our seed has a high germination rate, plant 1 seed 5mm deep 5cm apart in rows 30 to 40cm apart and thin to 20cm apart. The thinnings can be cooked. All our varieties are slow bolting and can be most of the year round. Harvest them from small to full size.
